چکیده
Chitosan (C) is a natural antimicrobial compound that has been widely explored for wood protection, but its application limited by high leachability. Genipin biobased crosslinking agent can crosslink with chitosan under mild conditions. This study aims at examining the decay resistance and leachability of genipin-crosslinked (GC) treated against common wood-decaying fungi. GC formation was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy Thermogravimetric analysis. The antifungal efficacy two brown-rot fungi, Gloeophyllum trabeum ( G.t. ) Rhodonia placenta (R.p.) white-rot Trametes versicolor (T.v.) Irpex lacteus (I.l.) first determined malt-gar as substrate, which revealed exhibited similar C treatments in inhibiting growth all fungi studied. Micrographs light fluorescence microscopy showed changes morphology nuclei deformation due to effect GC. GC-treated samples show an increased retention mass gain function treating concentrations, were 21 kg/m 2 3.6%, respectively. However, upon leaching test, 3% softwood hardwood reduced 1.6% 0.9%, respectively, indicating cross-linking genipin did not reduce rate chitosan. In terms durability testing, significantly lower loss ranging from 11 15% than those control groups ≥30% regardless test. • improved thermal stability. crosslinked properties decaying treatment caused morphological tested

Fluorescence Imaging in Genipin Crosslinked Chitosan–Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) Hydrogels
Recent research has identified genipin as a promising natural crosslinking agent for biocompatible hydrogels as genipin is significantly less cytotoxic than current synthetic crosslinking agents, such as glutaraldehyde. Conveniently, fluorophores can be produced when genipin crosslinks. In this study, fluorescence intensity measurements of genipin crosslinked chitosan-poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) hy...

Composite manufacturing appears to be one of the most suitable recycling options for chromated copper arsenate (CCA)-treated waste wood. However, in many applications it would be beneficial to remove much or all of the CCA from the wood prior to composite production. This paper evaluates the effect of remediation processes, namely oxalic acid (OA) extraction and Bacillus licheniformis fermentat...

The present review article intends to direct attention to the technological advances made since 2009 in the area of genipin-crosslinked chitosan (GEN-chitosan) hydrogels. After a concise introduction on the well recognized characteristics of medical grade chitosan and food grade genipin, the properties of GEN-chitosan obtained with a safe, spontaneous and irreversible chemical reaction, and the...

Antimicrobial delivery has been advocated for guided tissue regeneration (GTR) or guided bone regeneration (GBR) therapies involving patients with aggressive or unresolved periodontitis/peri-implantitis. Electrospun chitosan membranes demonstrate several advantages over traditional GTR barrier membranes because they stimulate healing, mimic the topology of the extracellular matrix, and allow fo...
متن کاملElectrospun hydroxyapatite-containing chitosan nanofibers crosslinked with genipin for bone tissue engineering.
Reconstruction of large bone defects remains problematic in orthopedic and craniofacial clinical practice. Autografts are limited in supply and are associated with donor site morbidity while other materials show poor integration with the host's own bone. This lack of integration is often due to the absence of periosteum, the outer layer of bone that contains osteoprogenitor cells and is critica...
